bypass password for vista os without a password reset dis? - 08-27-2007, 08:07 AM

can anyone help me out with this?

my bro (being the dumbass he is) happen to change my pc password yesterday and forgot what it was (how crappy is dat, 2 his dismay i kicked the shit outa him, which unfortunetly hasnt solved my problem!) and was wondering if anyone could help me out this....
ive been using google to find something however always turn out unlucky, the only options i seem to find are:

1.) restore my p.c (and lose everything helllllllllllllllllllll noooooo)
2.) do a back up on my files (i dont have an external HD dang)
3.) use a password reset disk to boot my pc with (i dont have)
3.) use some sorta password recovery software (i cant seem to find?)

so if anyone knows how to do this without using a reset disk (or if you know where i can download one from?) dat would be great!!!!! could you fill me in, oh and if theres some sorta recovery software out there maybe i could use dat too would be great....this maybe stretching asking for help a lil too much however im hoping yal understand how shity my situation is rite now not being able to use my pc...and for my bro's sake, hes wishing for the best lol

thanx guys...

I never tryed this on vista but it works on XP , u can give it a try.

1. restart ur pc and go into safemode
2.sign in on the account that u dont need a pass for
3.then go to control pannel
4.go to user accounts
5.then see if u can change passwords or delete passes

note: there should be a name that will show up when u come to the logon screen somthin like ex: admin ,or somthing like that

I dont know vista, but in Xp depending on how you install, yo can stay with an administrator account without pw when you did not explicitely define it during install. I suppoose in vista its the same procedure. You have only one user account, I suppose this is an admin account, cause you have to create an admin account first to create user accounts (in Xp)! I would try to login with "Administrator" without pw first.
The other way is to use tools, i.e. locksmith, which doesnt harm your system. It was some years ago part of erd commander cd from sysinternals. Since sysintenals has been overtaken by microsoft the situation worsened as usual. I couldnt find more the tool on the dubious microsoft site. I suppose they have removed it. Perhaps you find a copy of old erd commander on rapidshare.

The other way is a linux recovery floppy which works:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
Onother way is a tool from kerio-sunbelt: (commercial)
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

If you dont find a way let me know. I would upload you a erdcommander copy
good luck

There are 2 duplicate posts on this subject, this one and the other in the Computer and Internet Security Section.

As passwords are related more to computer security I posted my reply in that section with tools capable of recovering passwords in pratically all operating systems.

http://forums.security-forum.net/int...-password.html

So if none of the posts here work, try the other section.

Keep up the good work guys.

None of the ways really work. Your best bet is to use a bootable CD like a Symantec Recovery CD and use its file browser to copy all your files/pictures from the C: drive to an external USB. Then once your data is copied off restore.

The Symantec CD can copy off even password protected folders like My Documents or for Vista the Documents folder. It can read all files/folders and also supports USB external drive.

Good Luck.

having read the replies here, and noting that certain recovery software require it to be installed on the affected machine, which isn't possible if it's inaccassible there may be another simpler solution ie;

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Hope that helps
