Lightbulb windows registry - 07-14-2007, 06:38 AM

I am looking for a reliable windows registry program. My pc is getting slower due to my frequent install/uninstall. Try to search the net, but seems like most available program need to pay. Any advise?

You could try Microsoft's online Pc tuneup software, Safety Live Onecare.

"Get a free PC safety scan

Snapfiles is another good source for advice on freeware downloads in ALL catergories, the link here is to the registry software section.

www.download.com also offer reviews / downloads with Registry Mechanic being the Top Rated in the Shareware section.

you could try ccleaner also. Very fast, powerfull and simple to use, it cleans more than the registry.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

edit : to upx25cat : tried windows live onecare and I found it very long to dl everything

CCleaner works pretty well and its freeware.
Whats more, it will find old Temp, cookies, log,... files left after uninstalled programs.
But for better registry cleaning you should go for Registry Mechanic 6.0.
It finds much more problems but be careful what you delete(some registry entries can be still in the use and you can experience some programs to stop working...)!

ccleaner is more like a all in one application. Removing temporary files, URL history, cookies etc. I found a crack on Registry Mechanic. It did well in cleaner my windows registry mess. Atleast Registry Mechanic has a restore function if anything go wrong.
