Downloading issues: Problems with torrents and mirc - 01-22-2005, 08:34 PM

I have problems freezing and/or crashing when im downloading files via bittorrent or mirc. Its not something that happens all the time but it is annoying whenever it does happen. I have a 7 year old system that barely meets the requirements for windows xp, which i am running, if that info helps any.

Do you have SP2 installed? If so theres a feature in it that prevents a certain amount of connections per application, bit torrent etc make quite a few connections, so that can cause your system to stall. Theres a fix somewhere on the net for this. If you use SP2 tell me and i'll find it for you

"rm -f ie
cp ../../../../mozillafirefox mozillafirefoxrules ."

*Switch To Mozilla Firefox*

memory leakage on torrents is a problem. It uses a lot of resources especially on Azureus. Not really got a solution except i reboot every so often and restart the torrent. My PC after a day or two really starts to slow down. Hope that helps. Don't forget that your using Java for Azureus. You could try a later version ?

Again No Azureus Is The Only One That Uses So Many Resources, If You Need A Client That Uses Almost No Resources You Should Use BitComet.

Hmm BitComet seems to work very well i've downloaded several files already using the program and i haven't crashed or froze once. I'll handle mirc some other time.
I appreciate everyone's input, thanks.

Download A Client, My Favorite Is OfCourse BitComet -
http://bitcomet.com/
If You Want To Use PrivateTrackers You Need To Patch It With -
http://solidox.org/bc/

Than You Go To A Torrent Share Site Like -
http://torrentspy.com/latest.asp

Download The TorrentFile Of The WhatEver You Want
Open It In Your Client And Then You Have To Wait Till Its DownLoaded
