Picture masking

When I download a picture that has parts of it masked/blurred it downloads ok and when I look at the thumbnail in the folder there is no masking, when I open the thumbnail the masking re-appears. Is there anyway in which I can remove the masking so that the large picture is the same as the thumbnail?

what format is the picture in?

Could be in layers if it isnt as flattened image. You can try opening it in Flash, photoshop, illustrator or any other program that will allow you to view layers.

The two most common are FLMASK and GMASK google those. I had at one time a piece of software that would undo them both but can't remember what the name was. I think it depends on what color the mask is as to what program was used to encrypt it. You may in fact need both FLMASK and GMASK. Heres a site that explains of the different types of masks used.
