Vista Business runs perfect on 2 GB RAM. I had it before on 1 GB and memory was at 85% used.

Also, you need a dual core processor.

At LEAST a 2.0+ GHz processor, I'd prefer a Dual Core processor, but if you can't, get at least a 2.0GHz.

And, you really need at a bare minimum, 1.5GB of RAM, but I myself wouldn't run Vista with anything less than 2GB.

I wouldnt run Vista period... its still buggy and annoying as hell

If you must, then no less than 2 GB RAM
If you can go for a dual processor then do it, definetely. If not then I would say go to the mid-upper 2's

And HD doesnt really matter, depends on how much you download and install. I would say 60GB min - 250GB max if you're asking about it

Everyone has summed it up well, Vista WILL NOT run efficiently with 512mb. 1gb really is the minimum, but if you can, upgrade & get more later. The processor should have at least 1.8ghz or higher, 4mb cache would also be good, but thats not really important.

As rbd said, Vista still needs work, so if you want to upgrade, you should still wait. The only good thing I see out of Vista is the fact it supports Dx10.....

Good Luck

Vista isnt that terrible i dont see what everyone is complaining about, ive ran it and i enjoy the user interface and extra features better than xp. I can see how people can get annoyed by UAC but after a while i adjusted to it and its been smooth sailing from there. I have vista on a 1.6 ghz dual core processor and 2gb of ram, I EMPHASIZE THE RAM IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 2GB ITS GONNA SUCK. AND GET A GOOD PROCESSOR AND A NICE GRAPHIC CARD... then youre all set for a great vista experience.
