Thanks for the post, I am always looking for ways to get people to try. I am sold on it and I find mostly that the live boots work well. that link that you point to is also very nice for running as a cracking (or other shady activities) sandbox. Run off flash and keep your regular system clean. Use with a laptop and an un-secure wireless network is about as safe as you can be.

I suggest to use Virtual Box from Sun... it is becoming a very good product, comparable with vmware and it is FREE to use.
It does support snapshots and all.
