[Ask]Charon/Proxy Leeching Frustrations! - 01-11-2009, 04:11 AM

I'm having a hell of a time obtaining a decent proxy list! I'm using Charon to leech proxies off websites and I've been running it for 10+ hours for the past 2 days and I've gotten a measly 10-20 good proxies. WTF?

Anyone know other decent ways to get proxies which are anonymous? Please help me .

Athena II for leeching the proxies - run until you get bored - then load in charon and test

looks like your IP may be banned from google OR you have a firewall stopping the programs running.

Suggest you check your firewall settings and allow charon & athena

Extract a copy of AthenaII to a new directory. Open it, switch from 'Passes' to 'Proxy' mode and hit start. Run that for a little while. If it doesn't create the 'proxies.txt' file then stop it and (compress and) mail me the logfile.txt - rhino <at> project2025.com - I'll try to have a look what's going on.

I would expect though, as has already been said, that you're blocking the communication somehow.

AthenaII has some built-in intelligence to avoid being blocked by Google (the whole automated search thing). If you're killing it with other connections/queries though you could still get banned. You can either clear this ban, or try leeching through a proxy. That's why I implemented that function

Athena II is the way to go I got over 60,000 Proxies but checking them takes FOREVER with Charon but the best way is to get Athena for Leech and Charon to test...But it is frustrating when it takes forever to get a list and you force it against a site and they get killed in no time.

Ok .... in terms of getting people to help you - you haven't provided much information.

Which part in particular are you 'stuck' with?
Loading proxies
Checking the judge(s)
Testing proxies
Adjusting other settings to test for what you want
Manipulating the results
... and so on
