Closing Candy Shop for the public - 09-23-2009, 09:05 PM

Many of the users here work hard and do they best to provide us quality content in Candy Shop area.

And a lot of times it happens that many hours of organizing, taking screenshots & finally uploading, turn out to be wasted,
because files are quickly deleted from the file sharing host they used.

You must agree that on slow upload speeds (such is mine <20KB/s) this can be a real bummer.

It seems to me that there are number of users here who really like to Report those posts. Also, maybe we have porn site owners in here as inactive members too, you never know.

So, let's consider the idea of closing the Candy Shop area to the public, or making two levels of it. In level 1 people could be validated - that is whether they actually have something to give, and then they are granted access to level 2.

Of course, all currently active members, who already contributed a lot, as well as trusted members, who would rather leech then post (after all they are generating points for uploaders, so that should be taken in account too)should be in level 2 by default.

I would really like to hear more opinions on this subject.

Thanks for reading.

I brought this up before and I'll support it here - an Active+ Candy Shop is the way to go forward.

yes thats right i use the points for normal movies
and if i do not get them i dont watch movies
then its is a waste of time even uploading or cracking the sites for the upload

I support it. Though i'm no super poster, I'm starting to put some stuff I find so hopefully I'll still have access. But yeah I definitely support it. It is sad to see files go to waste because some snitch.

Your statement of all currently active members, who already contributed a lot, as well as trusted members, who would rather leech then post is at best off the wall. Candy and other areas of the forum allow lurkers to prove they are worthy of an active membership. Oh yes, you can contribute in other ways too. Help someone with a pc problem for example. How can you trust a lurker is if all you see is non-participation and no contributions to any other open areas of the forum available to them? That's grounds for an extended lurker status. That's why we have staff, sentinels, Mods and Admin, to weed the forum of the undesireables. Besides, let's face the facts, the present system works fine. Why re-invent the wheel? Remember, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It doesn't work fine for the people that get their stuff deleted because someone reports them. The future system would also involve two Candy Shops - the current one and one with access restrictions for the better/larger threads and everything people rather want to have protected.

Then the seniors need to be on top of the reports. Im sure some are not infractions imo., mabey a misunderstanding or whatever. I don't think the server posting nudies problems in candy will fly. When I got reported I learned what my discrepancies were and didn't do it again. I read the rules, understood why I was infracted, never bitched about it and learned with practice.

I for one support your idea 100%
Anything to weed out the lurkers and leechers.
I know how frustrating it can be to have your entire threads removed.

As a rule of thumb, only 3 to 5% of members of any given forums participate actively, so different levels would encourage them to be more active to get to the better stuff, just like in the passes area and the silver area.

You have my vote!
