I donīt agree with the 2-tier system. Everything involves the risk of having your content removed, even without people reporting, simply because of the trouble companies such as Rapidshare have been given lately. So itīs normal that some of that content can be removed just because their staff gets around to it. However itīs a small percentage I would think. Furthermore, I donīt think this can ever be stopped. I have spent time uploading too, but I wouldnīt be pissed if I saw it removed all of a sudden. I would just upload it again. You want things free and with guarantees? Run your own server then, in a relaxed country, and problem solved. The more you impend members the more this forum will loose. Rather I suggest you refrain from using companies which are currently in the spotlight (like Rapidshare), change the name of your file to something innocent, and password protect it. Other than that........

This is my opinion on this subject.

Passwords and other hosts won't work a bit - and to get the work of several hours deleted in thirty minutes is not enjoyable and very frustrating. Besides, it gives people additional incentive to do something more than spamming 'thankssssssssss', which is always a good thing.

AGAINST IT!

I dunno, the candy shop made me join the forum when I was public, now I learned to hack sites through the forum and post my hits etc.

Could reduce the number of users who turn into active members.

I too would not like to see a 2-tier system for a number of reasons:

As lurkers and leeches is where many people start. Closing the door will merely reduce the pool of talent and content. In the long run, the forum will be worse off.
Getting your links deleted is a pain but not the end. This forum is one of the safer ones to post on. In my experience, being careful where you post is the best way of protecting links. If you spread your links on the "Wild West" forums with poor moderation and massive link dumps, your links will probably get killed. If you select where you post, links can last a long time.

There is one good reason for having a restricted area and that is for stuff that is banned or gets killed very quickly. But how much material is that, really? And is it worth the trouble?

Keep in mind that there will still be an open one - just an additional closed one, for people that would like to keep their files a tad longer...

I Do agree with the concept.
1. This makes files last longer, that means more points for the uploaders.
2. User will be encouraged to contribute to candy shop

Give me a usernamepass and I will RIP the website in 48-72hr for you!!!

This is a good discussion and there are some real good, well reasoned comments by members. The Candy Shop got me involved and although I havent uploaded many things I do download and I always try to thank or make comments to the posters. I can see both sides and could accept a second area. Cheers RD

Good comments guys. Candy shop is among other areas of the forum where non active members can contribute something to the forum and earn an active status. There are so many other ways to contribute, so don't get stuck on nudies in candy. It's a foundation to lurker participation. Again, why screw up a system that already works? Now, the solution..... Robot, Moderators, Monitors and Sentinels will run the forum how they desire and what they decide is in the best interest of it's members. If dethphunk wants a 2 tier then I vote for a 3 tier. One more thought......don't use rapidshare if it dumps your uploads, there's virtually hundreds of other file storage servers that require a simple goof registration and your in. Being careful where you post is the best way of protecting links. It's not rocket science,,,,lock & load.
