I would also recommend Thanks button, as it will reduce spamming to some extent. and moreover the uploader or cracker will feel encouraged if people thank for there hard work and time.

Imagine how much more encouraged they will be if people actually take the time to write a nice, well-though out reply?
Anyway, this matter is already closed, as the staff unequivocal spoke against a thanks button - no matter how much people will wish for it, since they can't even be bothered to make a nice post.

I'm not a fan of the thanks button, never really seen the benefit of it. If you appreciate what people do, just say thank you and if the thread is old you can always send a PM

i think the posters appreciate a few words more than a number of clicks on the thanks button

Well, since it worked on other forums, it could work here too...

Thanks button are too convenient and lacking in emotions that words
typed can express to the person receiving them for his/her hard work..

It is nicer to read somebodies thanks, than to just know that someone has a hit a button without much thought. It would nearly go against the reason that we have to thank the people in the first place. They have done the hard work and the least you can do is spare a little (or a lot) time to thank them

The present is a point just passed

Even though this is a late response, I wanted to voice my opinion.

On other forums I've seen with the thank buttons, it looks quite messy to me.

I think it's important here to submit a reply with thanks for 2 reasons. one, which is of course to thank the thread started and 2. for mods and other members to see if someone is truly contributing to the forum.

If someone has only said thanks for their last 100 posts is it really contributing? They need to add conversation to this forum, or if they do only posts thank you messages... at least have a well thought out response.

with a thanks button it will be harder to keep track of this.

In my opinion it's great the way it is right now.
