A "Will be away" section - 02-19-2009, 10:39 AM

Right, down to the matter.

quite a few members tend to experience this, they go on vacation or are away for work for a while and come back only to see the warning bot has got them and they are demoted, it is unfair in the genuine cases.

What im suggesting is creating a section where members can specifically say that they are going away for a while, that way if they are demoted they have proof we have prior knowledge to it and they have a perfectly good reason so it will be easier to promote, for the more active members this will be more useful if a long period of absence is not expected, they can leave a message there and can not really worry about it.

Looking for opinions on this.

The warning bot does NOT demote people who do not log in.

@JJJ - you have seen evidence of this yourself - people with 0 posts for months

If you login and don't post then the bot will assume you are "active" do this for long enough and the bot will demote you.

Login then post ........... on vacation - enjoy your vacation without logging in to here

If people are on vacation or otherwise busy they can post into spammers paradise, which would be enough to leave a footprint.
Besides, the very low number of members I met that could have used a section like this doesn't justify it's creation. Agree with Kenk - not needed.

imo JJJ, sounds like a solid Idea. You got my vote. But at the same time I see where Kenk and coro are coming from. There can be a checkout and checkin section for these members with mod's monitoring. But I don't know how that would tie in with the robot demote default. Anyway just my 2 euros here, later.
