A nice addition or a plague? -

Hi!
Well I've got a suggestion. I did search, but didn't find anything about it.
How do you think a reputation system would work here at SSF?
What does he mean by ''reputation system'' you ask? Well it's simple, and I'm sure you've seen this on other forums too(such as freeones.com).
Basicly you've got a ''point''-system where members can give other members reputation points if they think someone has said something helpful, given them a password they've dreamt of as a toddler or whatever you think is useful to you, like guides on how to crack etc.
So if Interneth4xX0rz1337, who is an elite cracker, gives hornyboy15 that password to that site hornyboy15 have been searching for since he was hornyboy14, said person can give the cracker 1 point of positive reputation or a +point whatever you want to call it.
Now if Generalposter123 thinks that Spamfiestaitsfunny is just pouring out horseshit all over the forums with oneliners and stupid behaviour, GP123 can give the spammer 1 negative reputation point or -point. When the spammer gets a set number or by the mod on duty enough negative points, the mod/admin can look up why the user has done to earn the hate and, if they think he/she deserves it, can ban or put a warning out to the user making it easier to notice the morons and throwing them out.
Obviously it's the other way around if you get a large number of positive points. The moderators/admin get an easier time seeing who to promote or invite and the world will be safe for one more day.
Link to example: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] click on a forum and look under the usernames. It says 'Rep Power:' follow by a green.. thing.
Sorry if your not supposed to link to those forums, moderators.. ehm I meant; Masters, please remove it if it's not allowed. Yes I can kiss ass too, thank you very much.
Oh and as I said, I did search, didn't find anything but if this has been up before and denied, please remove the thread.
*edit* I noticed the topicname had a spelling error.
ehh...?

Reason: Spellingerror in topic.
I've been on such forums with rep points before, and honestly they are lame. The points mean nothing besides people can click at you. And SSF already has something like that (the active/gold/etc... statuses) and it works pretty well I'd say.
SSF did have a point system way back when, it was such that the mods were able to give points to people who did a good and helpful job in the forum, but we canceled it.
Now, as majikman111 said, we have a warning point system, to keep track of bad behavior.
as for good behavior, be sure that all the staff is constantly talking about those people who contribute in all section and we are aware of everything that is going on, so we rarely miss someone who deserves a promotion or reward
allowing members to give each other good or bad credit is a bad idea, because we will have no idea why the credit was given, maybe someone dislikes another and gives them a negative point, maybe someone just asks friends to reward him with points, or worse, open another account just to reward himself - Too much cheating and misbehavior can result out of this.

Well said Minerva, 100% agree.

I am a member of forum that has such a system ,the big problem there is that there are members who will post anything just to get points, there are long threads that consist of nothing but " i repped you " or " i give you a point " etc type replies.
sorry to be negative but this is just my experience of the points system
