Search Function limited???

I reciently joined, and wanted to search to see if a site I was interested in had already had PWs posted.

So I browsed a little bit and found that Multiple sites are listed in most messages.

So I fired up the search engine, typed in the site I was looking for and let fly.

Nothing found.

So I entered another.

Nothing found.

So I entered another. (Each time being sure to use *s to ensure I get matches for the site. ie. *boobsRus*)

It found Metalica's list of 600 good sites. (no passwords though)


So I did mote testing and exploring.

To make an already long story short. I discovered that apparently the search function ONLY applies to the General area. NOT the Password or Security area.

So the only way I can check to see if a site I am looking for has already been posted, is to read all the old messages in the password section.


Is the search function operating as designed? Or am I doing something wrong?

Well, its not that the search works on just the general area, its just that this particular search engine isn't that perfect.

i don't know what it is exactly, but i searched for the word: "boobs" and many results came up, even in the passwords areas.

maybe just limit your search to the pass areas..

HOWEVER,

I just tried a search for the word "boobs". (without quotes)

It came back with just 8 items. ALL from the General forum. NONE from the password forum.

When I search with "*boobs*" it comes up with 11 items. ALL from the general forum.

The Password forum is not even listed in the "Search Forum" pulldown. It only lists the General Forum (with sub folders) and NOT the Password or Security Forums.

On the off chance that you have to be IN the password forum before requesting a search for it to work, I tried calling up a search from in the password forum and got the same results.

For some reason It is only allowing me to search in the General Forum.

But I do get a strange message at the top of the the forum home page.

There seems to be a problem with the transfer. Here are all the sections listed:
Passwords Area
Security Area
We may have to start with a fresh database install.

"

Any Ideas?

oh!

thats not a strange notice at top, its published cause there is infact problems with viewing the passwords section and security section for everyone because of a dns problem, that might be the reason or you not being able to search all the forums.

The problems with the forum all have to do with the messed up daabase... We will have to start off with a new one....

I guess I should start up on it now

I guess the search function should work correctly (for me and others with the notice) after the database install.

I just did a search for boobs and got results in new passwords section.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Of course, with a new db and no pass posts, I suspect a search for boobs will yeild just as many hits as now...
