Question VLC with Firefox - 12-05-2008, 02:18 AM

Hello ladies and gents.

I, as many of you, use firefox for all of my browsing needs. I have also switched to VLC Media Player for all of my media playing needs. My question is if any of you know how to make VLC be used my firefox to stream, not download, all the movies and music. Is this even possible? I know VLC can stream out files but can it stream music and such like Windows Media Player can? I have the plug-in installed into Firefox already.

Kind of a side question to this. When I click on video links, like ones from porn sites, it will show a white screen in the firefox window and wont play anything. Previously (about six months ago) I didn't have this problem and it would just play video or music files within firefox. Anyone know how to fix this as well?

Thank you to everyone.

According to the VideoLan site, there is a Plug-In for Firefox that will enable VLC to be used for streaming video and audio within Firefox. The Plugin works with the 0.9.8 release and if you go to the VLC site and search the forums for Firefox Plugin White Screen, you will get the instructions for how to get everything working properly.

Hope this helps...

PS here is a link to the topic I was referring to above:

I just read over the instructions and I'm stuck at the part where it says
2. Register "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\axvlc.dll"

3. Import this script (edit it properly and save as .reg)

What does that mean I have to do?
