Old games on Xp?

Have downloaded some PC classic old games, like old theme park, larry series and monkey island etc, but they wont work on XP. Do u have to use some kind of emulator to run them?

I know that games like monkey island, sam n max, day of the tentecle etc can be run using a program called scummvm, Heres the link:-

Thanks mate! Works fine with the lucas art games. Still looking for other programmes to run the rest of the dos games.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about dosbox, but it's quite handy.
Until now I just used the compatibility function on windows xp.. but it's very poor.

Can't get the sound working though.
VDMS won't run in dosbox for some reason!

Downloaded an old game pack via Bittorrent from suprnova.org , unfortunately the site is now closed.

You should all check out the link Robot posted, on that site they actually have a couple of really good games available for free on the downloads page.

They point and click adventures like the LucasArts ones, the free ones are "Flight of the Amazon Queen" and "Beneath a Steel Sky"

Amazon Queen is ok.. but Steel Sky is excellent
