What did you think of the MTV music awards? - 09-12-2007, 03:01 AM

Did you see the MTV music awards? It was bloody awful. Is there anything musically redeeming about what is played on MTV.

Seems like the only music they play is rubbish!

It just goes to show how bad award shows have become. Also, what might sound good in the studio and on the album, might not sound so good live. Some artists can sing/rap while others can't and depend on the studio to enhance their voices. As for Kanye and 50, they did perform at the Fantasy Suite.

They probably didn't do anything at the actual awards show because of their new albums. I'm betting they didn't want to give anything away or give too much away with their upcoming albums. I'm still trying to forget the whole Britney fiasco. And they say that was supposed to be her comeback? It felt more like a go back. As in go back to where you were.

I'm sorry but i don't watch t.v but people need to get of this chick's back. This total exploitaion at the hands of the people at mtv. I mean come on that network sucks, I put it in the same category as the disney channel. It's core audience is preteens and teens. Destroying the youth through utter freaking garbage. MTV MTV2 BET , they all suck.

People gives these retards on tv fame for no reason. People make these morans filthy rich and then look up to them. Most them needs to getb they ass kicked, really good. Like they use to do did it back in days, when i was coming up. Bat and Brass Knuckles type shit.

It was the biggest joke ever. The show was just all over the place.. literally! They should not have done the individual parties upstairs with the different themes. All the celebrities should have been in the main area where the awards were taking place. Why they felt the need to invite Kid Rock and Tommy Lee is beyond me.

It also seemed like only 2 people were winning awards that night - Justin Timberlake and Rihanna!

Britney - couldnt dance, clearly the effects of partying for 3 days before showed through. She can never sing live anyways so that was just an easy target for her. If it was her comeback - she should have done something so wow to shut her critics up once and for all. Why does she also feel the need to dress with as little as impossible? DOes she think that makes her cool and sexy? The problem is everyone just sees it as slutty. I dont hate her, but I just think she should have really taken more consideration about her return than that. She deserved everything she got.

Sarah Silverman annoys the hell out of me, but she made peace with Paris and slated Britney so I like her a bit more now!

I laughed when Justin told MTV to play more music videos. They should do that and stop with crappy awards shows. Music, Music Video, Movie.. what next.. The MTV How far can you throw your mobile phone awards?

Good points you made SchoolRumble and Dimsum. I have no problem with Britney Spears. It's just that she really needs to step it up with her singing and dancing. If she can't dance, then she needs to be able to sing at the very least. Her personal life is her business. Don't care how she lives her life. But when it comes to performing, I expect to be entertained.

If she wanted to prove everyone wrong about her singing career, then she should have prepared herself mentally and physically. Her performance was a mess, she looked very slutty, and she was way out of shape. I don't expect her to be the hottest piece of ass on Earth, but I do expect her to be able to hit high and low notes as well as look decent and be physically fit to perform. A person can't perform if he/she is mentally and physically out of shape.

As for MTV, they've been sucking for very long time. They haven't been the same since the 80's and early 90's. All these reality shows is what killed them. Now it's just to manipulate and spread propaganda towards kids and teenagers that if you don't have the looks and latest stuff out right now, then you're a loser. I used to like MTV when they played nothing but videos. I liked VH-1, BET, and MTV when these channels showed nothing else but videos all day long.

People give them fame because they think they're cool. A majority give these artists so much hype that people have no choice but to join the bandwagon. Thing is, a majority of these artists don't have any talent. All the work is being done by their record labels. The studio, the enhanced voices, all these featured artists on songs, and the videos are what make them look appealing to the audience.

The talent is now overlooked, or in this case, the lack of. If that artist is decent at singing and/or rapping, then that's good enough to get him/her a contract.

As for the awards show, like I said, it just goes to show you how bad they've become. An award show should have all the artists and fans sitting down in one big ass room. All the performances should be done there. And if I were at a restaurant, then the way MTV set up the room would have been perfect for dining and being entertained by a singer or two. But this was the MTV VMA Awards.

I don't want to be seated like that. I want to be seated the way I ought to be if I were going to an awards show. So I'm wondering who decided to go with that type of seating. That's an award show, so the seats should have been facing the front, not have round tables with chairs that go around.

As for the awards, I can see why Rihanna won it. But Justin? Justin Timberlake? His latest album wasn't all that great. I actually prefer his first album Justified over FutureSex/LoveSounds.

MTV needs to go back to the way things used to be. Like Justin said, MTV needs to play more videos. Time to get rid of all these reality shows as they have nothing to do with music. Give me nothing but quality music videos and I'm happy.

I didn't watch it and am glad. I only saw Britney's performance because it was on CNN. Reminded me of something i saw the other day...a bird with a broken wing trying to walk across a busy street. Definitely a shitty way to go.

If you haven't seen "Leave Britney Alone" on youtube, check this out. It is a freaky britney fan standing up for britney. This was also on CNN.
