Who's The Greatest Hip-Hop Artist to ever grace the Microphone??? - 08-28-2007, 06:02 AM

Most would say Tupac and Biggie, and I’m not bias at all with my choice I just listen to the music and based upon what I like the hear I make a open minded and honest decision.

Most people from the West would say Snoop, Pac, or maybe Too Short. People From the south would Say Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris, or Andre 3000. People from the East Cost would Say Nas, Raekwon, or Big, and people from the Mid-West surprisingly are mostly not bias at all they just love good music but, they have their favorites like Kanye, Twista, or Bone Thugs.

Now as I have said I make my choice solely on the grounds of what I like to hear. The best to ever do it for me is Jay-Z and not the Icon Status Jay-Z you see in the Forbes or Chillin’ with Bill Gates although they are the same person he is only Jay-Z behind the Mic and he’s Shawn Carter to the business world. The reason I say Jay is not a personal one it’s based upon his Lyrics, Beat Choices, superb grammar and word play.

For those who haven’t heard Reasonable Doubt It’s a must that you listen to that album it’s not only a classic it’s a hot f**king album trust me non of that fake gimmick “Ish” (If you haven‘t heard it maybe you could ask nelsonn69 to post it in the other thread).

But, real fans of a persons work know their downfalls also, I’m a Jay-Z fan and I’m truthful enough to know when Jay has f**ked up. For example he would have lost the battle with Nas if Superugly wasn’t such a personal track. The Roc-a-Fella label was filled with garbage no one was a credible artist but Jay and Beans….okay they had a few more but before Kanye no one was selling records like Jay.

The Cam’ron and Jim Jones Ish should have been avoided and not taken a threat cause when somebody that is Big in the game like Jay talks about someone who doesn’t have a big buzz at all it makes their exposure bigger. That’s Enough about Jay he’s my Fav so whatever but I do like other people from Each coast so I’ll list em……

East Coast- Nas, Method Man
West Coast- Kurupt, Snoop
Mid-West- Kanye, Lupe Fiasco
South- M.R.C., Chamillionaire, Luda

What do You Think??????????????????????????????

Tupac due to overall influence, charisma, energy and lyrical ability. I would stick AZ in there as well. Chamillionaire is releasing some pretty amazing music right now. There are so many factors to consider, it's a difficult call.

No one compared to the flow and style of the Notorious BIG. As for as lyrics and importance to hip hop no one even comes close.
