I need a little help from you guys. Even though I am an American, I love European rock. I was wondering if anyone who happends to be from Europe can recommend some great rock bands from your region. Unfortunately a lot of American rock gets boring because it is played out so much on the radio. This is why I would love to hear what you guys might suggest so that I can have some amazing new shit to rock out too. I love music and really look forward to any response I might get from this thread. The only thing I can say is to please make any post ROCK orientated. Thank you!
Hi kknmbr9, before making some recommendations - can you be a little bit more specific as to what type of Rock you fancy?? Hardrock, P(h)unk, Bluesrock, Classic Rock, Jazz Rock, Mainstream (jikes), guitar or vocals driven, nowadays 60s, 70s, other ???? And yes, there is some great stuff out there - and a lot really comes from Europe I have to admit.
Thanks DethPhunk! I feel like a dumbass since I clearly missed that thread you had posted. There was some good stuff in there that definitely covered a lot of the metal I was looking for.
Hi Jack777, you're right, I should have been a little more specific about what types of rock I'm looking for. I mostly go for the harder stuff like Metal, hard rock, etc. but I am also pretty open minded to other types as well. Guitar driven is definitely another style I really like. just please NO pop rock or Emo. Any suggestions are much appreciated. The stuff here is getting old, I'm just looking for something new to listen to.
OK, here just a few examples of hard rock bands from Europe that I think are worth while exploring:
- Gotthard from Switzerland (hard rock / melodic metal). Plenty of Cds out already
- Rammstein from Germany (hard, industrial, electro metal). Pretty successful in the States too...
- Heroes del Silencio from Spain (hard rock). Lots of CDs out.
- Grave Digger from Germany (hard rock)
Also, you can purchase them for example at amazon. Look up the amazon.de or amazon.co.uk and select metal / hard rock category. This will give you even more of a starting point.
Then on the net there are so many pages (partially country specific - language??!!??) where you will find lots of new and coming bands. And yes, there is a hugh scene of hard rock and metal bands in the Netherlands, Scandinavia, UK and foremost Germany.
Thanks Jack777! I appreciate your suggestions. I'm already a big fan of Rammstein and really look forward to checking out the other bands you suggested. Thanks again!
