Fuel Prices - 09-22-2008, 04:58 PM

Fuel prices are dropping but it will probably stop at 2 or 3 dollars a gallon and we will all be happy like we are finally getting fuel cheaper, but that isn't true over in Iraq and Pakistan if you convert their gas price to us money its about .75 cent a gallon. now I ask how is that fair? when us company's are the ones who are sending those country's fuel to Begin with.

The highest I've seen was 1.569. Now doing the math, figuring the exchange rate in and we had a price of about 10$ per gallon here.
Besides, the earn a lot less in Iraq, don't know the exact figures, but gas might be more expensive there if you figure in wage differences.
And don't forget that the U.S. has sent more to Iraq then just fuel - bombs and soldiers come to mind. Seriously, innocent bystanders are dying in Iraq, in many parts of the country electricity is still sparse, people are to poor for air conditioning and most don't even have a car. So complaining about the gas price over there seems kind of short sighted, they have a whole lot of other problems.

I wasn't talking about the war effort, i mean just about all fuel comes from our refinery's to the rest of the world on a normal basis. plus lets not forget who controls the world market on fuel prices which is American based corporation. plus as far as the war is concerned we should pull out and if they
attack us again we could just nuke them and be done with it.

1. Only 20% of refined oil products come from the U.S.
2. The fuel prices are not controlled by one single corporation. It's called an oligopoly. The U.S. has neither the biggest fuel company, nor is a majority of them based in it.
3. First of the U.S. lead an aggression war against Iraq.

Seriously, I'm not going to say any more here.

I mean, coming from the US, considering prices around the world like from Europe or Asia, we get gas pretty cheap. I know it is still expensive from what it used to be and from other middle eastern countries, but you still have to take into account transportation of the gas, any taxes or costs for the gas, and also paying the gas companies
