PMing an answer.

What is the purpose of PMing an answer to a question that is asked publicly? Now I'm not talking about the super-secret-handshake-zipped-lipped topics, I'm talking about general questions that people post that get answered via PM. It stands to reason that if one person had that question, there may be more that also have it, and posting the answer would help several people at once. Also it doesn't clog up your PM box. So what are the benefits of PMing the answer, because then you have a thread posted that only makes sense to two people?

It wasn't your post specifically, it just seemed to be a trend I saw developing, and I was wondering what the reasoning was behind them. And while I appreciate your offer for the info, I already knew the answer> I was just suggesting that there may be thos out there who don't know the answers to questions posted and may not be bold enough to ask to send them a pm as well.

Ah well now if its a banned subject like Warez i always respond to PM so as to discourage the thread replies. Not all questions are good ones. Most of mine are shite.........
