Does anyone think that they're a sex addict?
I did the questionaire on their website and it seems like a fulfill a few of the traits.
Curious to see whether any of you guys have thought about it or are actively doing something about it.

The site that apparently helps addicts is:

...seriously? That's strange. Because you can really only be a sex addict if someone wants to do it with you

Yeah, I thought it's a tad weird but apparently wacking off of soliciting hookers... is sexual addiction.
I'm not particularly sure how biased this website is b/c they are fundamentally chistrian programs.

As far as I understand it (and I don't claim to be any sort of expert) sexual addiction is a real condition where someone has developed a chemical dependency on the chemicals released in the brain during sex.

It also seems to be a term thrown carelessly about to describe pretty much anyone who enjoys sex frequently, even if alone, or anyone with some kind of sexual kink. Fundie christian groups are particularly guilty of this becuse they often view any sexual enjoyment as wrong and something to feel bad about.

I don't know enough about you or your habbits to speculate any sort of addition or lack there of but I doubt a fundementalist Internet survey does either. I do know that I personally love to have sex as often as possible and have many kinks but I would not say I was addicted, not in a serious context anyway.

Don't forget their goal is to evangelize, not to offer medical advice or support.

I don't have spell check on my phone so I hope this rant isn't too bad.

Come to think of it, I think to be considered addicted to something your dendence on it needs to adversly effect your day to day life. It might help to look at it that way and judge for yourself. Even though this approch may not distinguish between genuine addition and pesky bad habbit it could still help you determine for yourself whether or not you have a problem. And unless you're spending eight hours every day trolling for porn you're probably just fine.

And if you need eight hours a day to find porn you are not using this site very well.

More people than you think are sex addicts. Just because someone collects a shit load of porn doesnt make them an addict though.
