That is, of note if you're a fan of classic comedy.
The first is one of the all-time Hall of Fame straight men...  ...BUD ABBOTT When asked about Bud Abbott in the 1970s, shortly after Abbott died, Groucho called him "the greatest straight man ever". Interesting that Groucho should have been the one to provide that characterization, since today also happens to be the birthday of none other than...  GROUCHO MARX. I'll observe the day by watching "Animal Crackers" later on (I'm already teaching my three year old granddaughter the words to "Hooray for Captain Spaulding") followed by "Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein". It's Friday, so let's have a few old-time laughs. |
