A shoe statue in tribute to the Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes at former U.S. president George Bush was unveiled in the Middle Eastern country yesterday (January 29).

According to Sky News, the giant shoe is made of fibreglass and copper. The shoe is also inscribed with a poem which pays tribute to Muntadhar Al Zeidi, the reporter who threw his shoes at Bush during a Baghdad press conference in December 2008.

Al Zeidi is currently in custody awaiting trial for the incident.

It's already been taken down.
Think it was unveiled on school ground. The school didn't want anything to do with it though and thus it was taken away.
