I was wondering with the large cross section of people on this site if anyone could give me some advice on working from home?
I know that skill set is the number one hurdle, but I was hoping that someone could give me some directions to look. Of course I would want something legitimate, non of these get rich quick things. Where to seriously start.

i signed up to this stupid stores online thing, i had to attend a few seminars and learn about how to sell online, and drop shipping, my co partner said if i do all the work he will pay, i said "whatever man, its your money", lets just say i sold nothing, and 10,000 dollars was invested into this online business.
i worked for months with credit card companies and paypal, html coding, a bunch of crap that one man shouldn't have to go through, i had no help.
my advice to you, is to find an online wholesaler that is willing to do drop shipping (Shipping of merchandise direct to the end-user), talk them down in price, most will go lower than the price advertised for wholesaler, buy bulk products, compare prices, and start by selling on ebay. start small, don't invest your time in something that wont sell.
and don't ever attend any 8 hour long seminars that offer free lunch at some fancy pants hotel.
or ebooks, people are willing to pay for your knowledge, if you can write a informational ebook and advertise it, that's easy money.

I've been struggling from job to job, and getting tired of working like a drone in call centres. I can do some graphic arts stuff, but I don't have enough faith in availability of work (or my skills) to dive in.
Like most I have a family that depends on me, mortgage and regular debts. I would love to work from home since it would give me more time to be with my family. As I've said I'm not looking to get rich, but if I could make what I bring home now (or more of course) then I would be a happy man.
Thanks again for your reply.

Or learn how to do webdesign, graphic design or video editing. Learned it all myself and it's stuff you can do at home or with a client. I like the combination. A bit of both. Takes dedication to learn it yourself though. Easiest way is through projects (likely little to no pay for the first few) cause it forces you to finish something over a tutorial (which could work too) that you can stop in the middle without anyone telling you that you should continue.
With editing (and graphic design I guess), I can help you where/how to get started or answer more questions if you want.
And in the end, it's more fun then trying to sell crap to people on the phone. God I hate it when they call me unsolicited. Really, try to find a job that adds something to the world beyond just a salary to yourself. Hard it may be, but at the start of possible change, maybe something to seriously to consider as well.

Thanks to all of you for the constructive comments. I’m not looking for an ‘easy’ way out; I’m just lacking the focus and direction to find the change.
Arizona, these are good suggestions and I have dabbled in graphic design in the past. My web skills have fallen out of date since I haven’t had much time to do anything but the drone work. I feel that every day I’m a little less for doing the work I do, but with a mortgage girlfriend and child depending on me… makes it hard to start over.
The graphic design idea excites me, but I’m not an ‘A’ type personality and selling myself as a viable commodity isn’t something I can see doing. It’s not that I’m not willing to work; I’m just not a sales person.
So again I thank you all for commenting, I keep searching for something I might be able to do and appreciate the feedback.
