Thumbs up Boost Up With Popeye's Food - 08-30-2003, 10:09 AM

BOOST UP WITH SPINACH.IT SEEMS SPINACH REALLY DOES HELP BUILD POPEYE'S STRENGTH.ACCORDING TO JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL, THE GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLE'S HEALTH BENEFITS MAKE IT A POWERHOUSE FOOD CHOICE. SPINACH IS LOW IN CALORIES --- ONLY 41 PER CUP --- AND IS LOADED WITH VITAMINS --- ESPECIALLY VITAMIN B, IRON, AND FOLATE, AS WELL AS PHOTOCHEMICAL LUTEIN AND ZEAXANTHIN.RESEARCH HAS LINKED FOLATE WITH A REDUCTION IN BLOOD LEVELS OF HOMOCYSTEINE, AN AMINO ACID THAT'S BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. ZEAXANTHIN HAS BEEN LINKED WITH A LOWER RISK OF MASCULAR DEGENERATION, A CONDITION THAT CAN LEAD TO BLINDNESS.SO, BROTHER MEMBERS WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR. START EATING POPEYE'S FOOD TOMORROW.

Yeah, spinach is healthy. Not the spinach they serve at the school kitchen though. But Popeye, seeking iron in spinach should have chosen liver. It's not very "cartoon" type of food but it's the food that contains the most iron in percentage (correct me if I'm wrong).

thanks Chongwah for the infos.

Mmmmm....spinach.

I think red meat is better than spinach for iron, but I'm sure a little bit of everything is the best kind of balanced, healthy diet.
