Meditation for breakdown.... - 08-18-2003, 08:33 PM

If one could reduce the population of the world in a village of 100 people all while maintaining the proportions of all the people existing on the ground, this village would be thus composed:

57 Asian
21 Europeans
14 Americans (North, Centre and South)
8 Africans

There would be:

52 women and 48 men
30 white and 70 not white
30 Christians and 70 not Christians
89 heterosexuals and 11 homosexual
6 people would have 59% of the total richness and all the 6 would be originating in the USA
80 would live in bad houses
70 would be illiterate
50 would suffer from malnutrition (half of the village! !)
1 would be dying
1 would be being born
1 would have a computer
1 (yes, one only) would have a university diploma

If the world in this manner is considered, the need to accept, include/understand and divide becomes obvious.
Now if you wish it, read the continuation:
If you rose this morning with more health than of disease, you are luckier than the million people which will not see the next week.
If you never were in the danger of a battle, the loneliness of the imprisonment, the anguish of torture, the vice of the hunger, you are better than 500 million people.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on you, a roof on your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than the 75% of the inhabitants of the ground.

If you have money at the bank, in your wallet and of the currency in a small box, you the most privileged ridges left the 8% world.

If you read this message, you ridges not part of the two billion people who cannot read.

Now THAT cheered me up

Actually, the village used to contain 101 people. The klingon warrior was banned and forced to wander in the wasteland. The official reasons are:

"inapropriate gagh and bloodwine meal" (we all know SPAM is the only appropriate food)
"lack of dental hygiene"
