Talking Stay smelly and save yourself from hornets - 08-12-2003, 07:14 PM

HORNETS ENRAGED BY FOOD, FRAGRANCE ADDITIVE.Japanese scientists said a common ingredient in cosmetics, perfumes and fragrances and some manufactured foods can throw hornets into a defensive rage, which may explain why hornets sometimes suddenly attack humans without apparent provacation.According to the findings, published in the journal NATURE, a chemical in hornet's venom that is released when they are threatened is similar to an additive used in certain foods and fragrances.The scientists suggest that it would be sensible to screen cosmetics, perfumes and processed foods for the presence of these pheromones. Up to 74 people die each year in Japan after being stung by insects.

Yes but these babies are as big as sparrows......the're not the normal insect size...the're fcuking HUGE.

i think its 3 to 4 stings to kill you and once one does it they all follow. You should see them attack a bee hive to get the honey. They can kill a 3000 bees in a few minutes. They have HUGE jaws also that they use to decapitate the bees.

Don't Understand It All

Quote:
A small but highly efficient killing machine—a hornet two inches long and with a wingspan up to three inches—lurks in the mountains of Japan . The voracious predator has a quarter-inch stinger that pumps out a dose of venom with an enzyme so strong it can dissolve human tissue.
Ok, They Live In Japan......

And Than The Artical Goes On-
Quote:
Bees, other hornet species, and larger insects such as praying mantises are no match for the giant hornets, which often stalk their prey in relentless armies. Just one of these hornets can kill 40 European honeybees a minute; a handful of the creatures can slaughter 30,000 European honeybees within hours, leaving a trail of severed insect heads and limbs.
But How Do They Know That, Europe Bees And Japan Hornets
Did They Bring The Hornets To Europe Or The Bees To Japan

European bees were intoroduced in Japan cos the native Japan bees (LOL) don't produce much honey. So there you have it.

If They Import European Bees SomeTime Ago, Wouldn't They Become Japaneas Bees After A While.

Why Not Call Them EuroJapaneas Bees.

@beekeeper

Did You Smuggle The Bees To Europe?
