I once read that it actually takes more brain effort to sleep/dream, then to watch tv. In franc, the government recently officially advised parents with kids to not let them watch tv AT ALL anymore. In my opinion, only if you really monitor your watching patterns and limit yourself to watching what you really want to see, tv is ok. Otherwise, ditch the marketing/propaganda instrument in the trash like I did a few years back.

Masturbate should do the trick yes. Or start a thread on the forum here what to do is a good alternative

Stay up the other three hours as well, sleeping for that short a time will actually make you more tired than not sleeping at all.
If you're very sleepy take 10 - 15 minutes power naps to rest in between.

Hmm, most TV I watch is in English to stay at least somewhat practiced in it. Even then it is usually on the computer. And the news, of course, always nice to watch them, although the quality of them varies a lot between the private and the public channels ~_~

Try watching downloaded series coro. Dexter is great. No commercials and no subtitles so your english will improve. I think Greek and Latin series are harder to find though :P

You might be interested in a few pointers from someone who has has serious insomnia problems in the past:

--- first, you have to accept that you can't sleep and let go of any effort to sleep.

--- "trying" to sleep doesn't work. Sleep comes passively.

--- getting up and doing something else is an idea, but it puts pressure on you: When do I decide to get up? After waiting for how long?

--- For this reason, I prefer to stay in bed and let my mind wander where it wants, without doing any effort to control my thoughts. Sometimes, sleep comes.

--- don't look at your watch or at an alarm clock; this puts pressure on you.

--- don't watch TV or read in bed before trying to go to sleep. The bed has to be associated only with sleep or sex.

--- If you don't sleep through the night, or sleep very little, i't very important not to take any naps during the following day, so as not to disturb your sleep pattern. Tough it out untel the following evening and go to bed at your regular time. Being very tired will help you fall asleep quickly

--- nobody ever died from insomnia. At some point, you will sleep. There is no need not use sleeping pills.

Did anbody try out to count sheep against insomnia?

If I canīt sleep although Iīm tired there are usually unsolved problems in my job or private life. It doesnīt help at the very moment, but when I face these problems and solve them, sleep comes back automatically.
