Life without High Speed conection -
06-06-2003, 07:17 AM
I just moved 1100 miles and I knew I was in for some culture shock, but I felt confident that with my satellite TV and DSL internet I would be able to adjust well enough. Nope. I got the satellite, but the DSL won't transfer to my new address. So the only way I an get High Speed is to pay the Cable company like $60/month....Woe is me.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
Man, that's more or less what I pay for a 512/128 connection...
And that sucks...
And once you get dsl you don't really care about dialup no more... it's like crashing your ferrari and begin riding a donkey
Garthon, can't you get a satelite connection?... maybe it'll pay up...
Well I dont see what could be worse than my cable modem that seems to think its 56K. What could be worse than paying cable prices for crappy 56K-speed internet. I only have a week left to enjoy my college's in-room T1 ethernet.

I checked with the satelitte company, but they discontinued the internet service in this area as well. Too many service failures and complaints. I've talked my father-in-law into splitting the cost for the cable with me...and I will be taking my DSL connection over to my new office. So hopefully within a week I can get back up to high speed. Thank goodness!
